In the heart of Dagoretti, a quiet but powerful movement was growing. On October 10, 2025, Havilaplus Estates joined hands with Nairobi City County, community leaders, and local residents for a clean-up that is about more than just sweeping streets and collecting litter.

The Mazingira Day theme “Live Green, Live Incredibly” reminded us that caring for the environment is not a one-time activity—it is a way of life.

Why Dagoretti?

Dagoretti is a vibrant neighborhood, full of history, culture, and hardworking families. But like many urban areas, it faces challenges with waste management. Streets that once bustled with color and life often bear the weight of plastic bags, bottles, and unmanaged dumpsites.

Instead of looking away, Havilaplus Estates, in collaboration with Nairobi City County, chose to step in—because a community deserves to breathe clean air, enjoy safe public spaces, and take pride in its surroundings.

A Day of Unity and Action

On Mazingira Day, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, county officials, Havilaplus Estates staff, local organizations, and volunteers walked side by side, gloves on, brooms in hand.

The clean-up was an invitation to everyone—residents, schools, churches, businesses—to rediscover what it means to care for the space we all share.

Voices of Change

“At Havilaplus Estates, we believe that sustainable property management goes hand in hand with environmental stewardship. Partnering with the county on Mazingira Day is our way of giving back to the community and fostering a culture of responsibility and care for our environment. With this year’s theme, Live Green, Live Incredibly, we want to inspire every resident to take pride in a cleaner, greener Dagoretti,” said Mr. Simon Muchiri, Director, Havilaplus Estates.

His words echo the spirit of the day: this isn’t just corporate responsibility, it’s community responsibility.

Beyond the Clean-Up

While the clean-up itself made a visible difference, the real goal was for long-term impact. With support from Nairobi City County, Mazingira Day was a starting point for deeper environmental awareness—encouraging households to recycle, businesses to adopt sustainable practices, and residents to hold each other accountable for keeping Dagoretti green.

Because when we live green, we truly live incredibly

On October 10th, Dagoretti wasn’t just be cleaner—it stood as a symbol of what happens when people, government, and businesses come together for the greater good.
